I shot a little more video with the helmet-cam to show what it's like entering a big city by bicycle. It' s some hair- raising video. I just wish that I could record sound with the helmet- cam to give the full effect.

Works but could be more rugged.

When using this to mount my GoPro camera, one of the sections broke due to a fatigue failure of the plastic. The problem is caused by the camera vibrating at the end of the bracket causing it to eventually break. I now need to replace the mount and the camera housing. Amazingly the camera still works after flying off my bike at 60 mph. One other problem is the screws that are inside the adjusting knob will sometimes not spin with the knob when trying to tighten the bracket. I solve this by carrying a small screwdriver with me when using the mount but it's one more thing I need to take with me. 3/5 Lyle Landstrom (Moorhead, Minnesota) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) needs a horizonal left-right swivel

I've been using this mount on my handlebars, but due to the shape of my bars I cannot locate this mount where it doesn't point the camera at too much of an angle off to the sides of the road. The mount really needs a left-to-right swivel point to adjust for this. Otherwise a good mount, stable and easy to secure. 3/5 Trace (Australia) - See all my reviews This review is from: GoPro Handlebar Seatpost Mount for HERO Cameras (Electronics) I've been using this mount on my handlebars, but due to the shape of my bars I cannot locate this mount where it doesn't point the camera at too much of an angle off to the sides of the road. The long awaited gopro handlebar mount has arrived

The product works as expected. What you get is the clamp that will fit most handlebars and seatposts and two extensions of different lengths. The only con is that it doesn't come with rubber strips that most bicycle accesories come with to help hold the clamp in place. At first the clamp slipped on the bar no matter how tight I made it, adding a strip of rubber fixed that problem. While riding the camera seems to vibrate a lot but on reviewing the videos the images were as good as one would expect. I took videos while riding both on and off road and was pleased with the results.Audio is horrible when using this product. The vibrations cause a constant buzzing that gets very irritating during playback. But this isn't a big issue as I think most people would dub their videos with either music or commentary anyway. If you own a gopro helmet or motosport camera this is a handy and reccomended accessory. If you only own the basic wriststrap gopro you'll need... 4/5 Pwyll "John" (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Nothing is as Advertised

I purchased this camera to use on my bicycle commutes to work to document aggressive drivers. This camera advertises a lot of features that simply don't exist on it...1. "With motion detection, loop recording, while recording and other functions necessary and sufficient edge"Nope, not one of these features are true or even mentioned in the manual.2. "High-definition and wide viewing angle"640x480 is NOT "High Definition" by anyone's standards.3. "New infrared LED night vision"Not that I could find (or mentioned anywhere in the manual). In fact, even with daytime sunlight in my basement, the resulting video was not much more than a black screen.4. "It can record high-definition video in the low illumination"See points 2 & 35. "It features torch appearance design and it is made of alloy, stylish and wear-resistant"It's made of plastic. Basic Bit of Kit... but with issues.

First up, I'm not a big fan of the GoPro mounting system as it's way too limited in its ability to rotate freely like a ball mount. It's OK for direct mounting where ever that's possible (like on the front or top of a helmet) but mount it to the side of that same helmet and the only way to twist and turn the camera to where you want it (unless it's looking straight in the direction of the mount) is to add more adapters into the equation. More adapters means more length, and more length = more vibration. So that brings me to this mount. Even in its standard configuration you have quite a lever between the camera and the base mount and this makes for significant vibration when the there's play between the base mount (stuck to your helmet) and the clip-in section of the helmet mount.GoPro have come up with a solution to the excess play between these two parts (the 'male' and the 'female' so to speak) and this comes in the form of a white silicone plug, or spacer... 3/5 S. Best of all the mounts GoPro makes

Because of the configuration of this mount, it offers more range of motion than any other mount GoPro has to offer. GoPro is the most versitile camera ever made but it has a lot of accessories. I have to use a hand gun case just to carry all of them around. In short, if there was one accessory you should have above all others, this would be it. Nothing from GoPro is cheap so buyer beware to pay a premium price for a piece of plastic. 5/5 Robert E. Miller (Wichita, KS United States) - See all my reviews, August 6, 2012

    Great camera

I bought two of these as replacements for the similar unit I've had for about 18 months that has broken. One of the ones I bought would never sync up with my computer, and was returned at no cost to me to Amazon. The other one works fine, and has a better resolution than my original unit. I am a Police officer, and use them to capture video and audio on traffic stops, as well as anytime I have need of recording statements or actions. The audio on them is better than the in car camera I have.I have also used one clipped to a hat band at sporting events to record video. It works well. 4/5 Mark Parker "lawman" (southeast USA) - See all my reviews, January 4, 2011

    TEST RIDE!

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:06 MinsI have to say I'm very impressed with this! I previously used a large Hi8 tape cam but it's very obtrusive. I use this 99% of the time I ride my bike as it helps me review and improve my riding technique. With this cam being so small and barely visible, I can leave it mounted when I park my bike. With the optional clip, it pops right in and out and It slips right in my pocket. I can even clip it to my belt while walking and no one ever notice. Sweet! The PRO model is true 30fps. 4Gb is sufficient because it records for 2 hours and only uses half the memory. Add a 8Gb mini SD for under $30.The only negative is how long it takes to upload your clips to a computer.Something this small with this much quality you can't... 5/5 D. E. Good for it's size

Like most people, I bought this because it was small. It mount's to my vehicle's windshield easily and does not obstruct my view tucked up under my rear-view mirror. It seems well built, and easy to use. The included memory card provides a good amount of recording time, but it is very slow to transfer the videos to a computer through the internal USB, only about 1MB/s. You should get an SD adapter and use a card reader. The main downside to this is the battery. It advertises a recording time of about 3 hours, but I struggle to get even one hour record time out of it. It can only fill the card if you stop to charge it between shooting, or if you run it on USB power. A $5 USB 12V to USB adapter works nicely for me, with a thin USB cable.I found the included clip is nice, but it's not entirely useful. If you want to expand your mounting options, check out the RAM mount system. The RAM-B-238-VEN1U allows this to mount with a "B" size ball. Then you can stick it to... 3/5 Matt Blank - See all my reviews This review is from: Veho Muvi Pro Micro DV Camcorder with 4 GB Micro SD (Electronics) Like most people, I bought this because it was small. I really like how easy the camera was to attach to my bike and start recording. I used the camera on an over night biking, camping trip, and captured some great video. Update 9-16-2010 This is no longer their top of the line cam - the new one is based on this camera but includes a GPS and tags your images with location. You'll need their viewer to see the map movement as the video plays.Update: 7-2010Tonights episode of Dirty Jobs showed this camera strapped to a head strap for the host, Mike Rowe, who was 408 feet above the cement floor decending & window cleaning in Hawaii. Troy chickened out on the first 100 feet so alot of the contour HD footage made it into the show. By the 300 foot balcony they got troy on the ropes but his hair got snagged in the safely line and had to get his second "shearing" on Dirty Jobs - it was also filmed on contour HD cams 300' above hawaii. The quality was as good as the cable company could deliver in their 6:1 re-compression of HD. I bought this camera primarily to be used for motorsports (autocross, track days, time attack, etc.) but took it on my recent ski trip to Breckenridge, Colorado. I'll update the review once motorsport season comes around. With the GoPro HD and ContourHD 1080p coming out around he same time for the same price point I did a lot of research on both. I was already biased against the GoPro having owned the original Hero Cam Wide.Mounting--------The quick sliding of the GoPro is pretty simple, but the parts that you have to screw and unscrew are difficult. The screws were hard to tighten and it's too easy to lose the screw and/or nut. I also managed to break one of the mounts by dropping it - a bit too easy to break in my opinion. Getting the correct angle by stringing the screw mounts together was a challenge as well.I like the ContourHD mount a lot more. It just slides on and off and locks into place. Great Camera for night skating

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:44 MinsThis is a video of a couple of laps around the John Rose Oval shot at 10 PM under artificial lighting. I thought that the images were good with expected wide angle distortion.I purchased this camera to record my speed skating at the John Rose Oval in Roseville, Minnesota. Most of my skating sessions are from 9:20 to 10:25 PM. The lighting is similar to a baseball or football field. I had some concerns about reviews that said that this camera was not that good in low light conditions but the images looked good to me.In terms of ease of use, I don't think you can really beat this camera. The instruction manual is microscopic and you are up to speed on the available controls within a very short period of time. One of the frequent criticisms of the camera is wind noise coming through in the video. It turns out that you can preset the sound level with the software that comes with the camera as a download off the MicroSD card... 5/5 George Dawson (St. Paul, MN USA) - See all my reviews, December 5, 2009

Good Camera - Simple Sound Quality Fix

I am a police officer and I use this camera when interviewing people. I was initially disappointed with the sound quality, but found the video and capacity with the 2gig card excellent. The problem with the sound is the waterproofing. If you are not going to be using it in water or wet environments all you have to do is remove the mic cover and there is a black square rubber cover over the mic. It is 1mm or thicker and causes the sound distortion and lack of range. Remove it an re-install the cover and you get as good a sound as any other video camera. This camera is well made and a good value at the price. If it had an external mic jack it would rate five stars. 4/5 Shawn K. Tolley - See all my reviews, August 28, 2007

Good idea, good video, poor quality

I bought this after being involved in an auto accident and suffering an insurance rate increase because I couldn't prove what happened. Less than three months later I was hit by another driver who ran a red light. She and her passenger claimed she had a green light. I had this mounted on the dashboard and recording as I was hit and was able to prove she was lying. Without it I would have been blamed for the accident. It paid for itself already. The camera provides reasonable quality video but very poor audio. It does not operate well in low light conditions (say 30 minutes after sunset). It's very easy to use and has the ability to change resolution, frame rate, date and time, and also to delete files using the built in display and buttons. At 640x480 30fps a 2Gb card (4Gb not supported) can hold about one hour of video. At 15fps it can record about 90 minutes. It only records videos up to 45 minutes, then seamlessly starts another file. It eats batteries so I bought two... 5/5 Terry Hutt (Running Springs, CA) - See all my reviews, January 23, 2008

    Get what you pay for

The camera states it has an IR light, but that isn't accurate. It has a red laser light for focus of the lens. The camera does see in darkness if you have an external IR light source (which thankfully we do). The instructions that come with the camera are 100% useless, you will simply have to play with it to figure it out (it comes direct from China and there are no worthy documents with the camera). Now with that said, our dog has been wearing the camera and it doesn't do bad for $40some bucks, compared to paying over $100. The batteries don't last too long, but in the end, you get what you pay for and as long as you know what you're looking for and what to expect, this camera isn't too bad. If you're not the type that can easily figure out electronics, this isn't the camera for you. 3/5 Cornerstone Paranormal - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Cam does the job

This is not a high quality product, but you get what you pay for, and we wanted to get a cheaper model to try out. It takes pretty good color videos, about that of a 3-4 mega pixel camera. The operation is very simple, and it does pick up sound pretty well. If you move your head too fast it gets blurry. It is plastic and it isn't water proof, but if you want a cheap starter head cam, that you won't cry if it gets destroyed.... Here it is. 3/5 Torbejd - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
