  Good Camera - Simple Sound Quality Fix

  I am a police officer and I use this camera when interviewing people. I was initially disappointed with the sound quality, but found the video and capacity with the 2gig card excellent. The problem with the sound is the waterproofing. If you are not going to be using it in water or wet environments all you have to do is remove the mic cover and there is a black square rubber cover over the mic. It is 1mm or thicker and causes the sound distortion and lack of range. Remove it an re-install the cover and you get as good a sound as any other video camera.   Good idea, good video, poor quality

  I bought this after being involved in an auto accident and suffering an insurance rate increase because I couldn't prove what happened. Less than three months later I was hit by another driver who ran a red light. She and her passenger claimed she had a green light. I had this mounted on the dashboard and recording as I was hit and was able to prove she was lying. Without it I would have been blamed for the accident. It paid for itself already.The camera provides reasonable quality video but very poor audio. It does not operate well in low light conditions (say 30 minutes after sunset). It's very easy to use and has the ability to change resolution, frame rate, date and time, and also to delete files using the built in display and buttons. At 640x480 30fps a 2Gb card (4Gb not supported) can hold about one hour of video. At 15fps it can record about 90 minutes.   Best action camera for the money

  Customer Video Review Length:: 3:41 MinsThis is a quick overview of the Drift x170 (shot with a cell phone camera) and some sample videos taken with the X170 in the first couple of weeks I owned it.As I point out in the video, the build quality of this camera is great: the battery & media door clips shut solidly, and the rotating lens feels very firm, and doesn't budge after you set it where you want it. Also the clip that holds the camera into the various mounts works well, and is easy to remove when needed.The car scene in the video was helped out with a third party suction cup mount, which went onto the X170 no problem (.)   Excellent Camera and Features but with Limitations of Low Resolution

  Pros:1. The camera is so light it almost feels like a piece of styrofoam.2. The built-in LCD display allows playback anytime without a computer and helps line up shots properly.3. Loads of mounting options let you securely attach the camera to a helmet, seat post, handlebars, or almost anywhere else.4. Runs on inexpensive AA batteries rather than special battery packs that are expensive to replace. I get 4 hours of continuous recording from two AA Energizer Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries in warm weather.5. Wireless remote control lets you start and stop shooting without fumbling for buttons when the camera is on top of your helmet.6. I pedaled a bicycle for miles through a rainstorm with this camera on top of my helmet and it kept right on working.7.   Fabulous Camera Super for So Many Uses

  My husband and I bought this camera after using one while cat-skiing in British Columbia. I love the fact that it's compact and low-profile, so it doesn't get snagged in the trees. Most of the other cameras we looked at didn't have an LCD screen or remote control. The screen is really important because I wanted to make sure we're getting the shot we want rather than getting home to find out we were shooting snow or sky all day. For cold weather, AA lithium batteries last longest. I really like the fact that the Drift takes AA batteries, because we didn't need to worry about finding a custom battery in the backwoods of Canada! This camera is simple to operate and phenomenally priced. I'm getting one for my husband for Father's Day so we can both shoot video at the same time.   A need for those who have the cam

  My main use on the camera is for snowboarding (I have it strapped to my helmet) anyways So I didnt think I would need this item, but last season I realized that when it got colder the shorter the battery life, and yes I knew this but didnt realize the impact. So I purchased this, now I havent been able to fully use it last season and i cant wait this season. The only gripe I have with this is that it is a little bulky and the buttons are a pain to feel or get to when you have winter gloves on.   WTF? No Battery Installation Instructions???

  No battery installation instructions included with the battery or in the camera instruction manual. This battery is much thicker than the battery that comes with the camera and that requires the removal of part of the battery holder for the original battery. It is not easy to do and i couldn't figure it out until I saw it done. You can Google this issue and a video from a third party is available that demonstrates how to install this replacement battery. I tried to put the link for the demo on this review, but Amazon's control-freak goon squad would not publish the review with an external link. Once you get the battery into the camera it works great. So this would have been a 5 star product if the folks at Drift had the sense enough to provide instructions on how to perform this tricky battery installation. 4/5 W. E.   The Drift cameras are clearly excellent products. I have no complaints. Just writing to advise you that the Drift HD cannot accommodate the long life battery.   Honestly, I used this so many times without charging it that I WANTED to drain the battery to get a fresh recharge. This is really worth it if you plan on doing some sort of expedition where you can't charge your battery. Plus, you still have the old battery.
